Anthony Giddens defines globalization as: the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa. It is westernization of world and worldwide standardization of life styles. Globalization has changed the conditions under which language learning and teaching taken place. The most significant changes are economic. People have always learned languages for economic reasons. Language is treated as economic commodity. In the linguistic commodity market English has got higher values than any other language. Communication skills, as well as the competence in one or more second or foreign languages are valuable linguistic capital. Communication skill is the key word of global age. The new work order makes the new demand on workers. What is emerging is an increasing need of teaching of spoken language or effective communication.
