In today’s modern era where each country of the world is pacing towards the path of development, education is the most prioritized sector and the teacher forms the backbone of this system. Teacher Education includes both pre- service as well as in- service programmes. As described by Blooms taxonomy, the teacher is the link between the student and the curriculum. In our country, the Ancient Education System emphasized on oral transmission of knowledge rather than the written but in modern era, the Britishers modified the Indian Education system to suit their own needs. After Independence, our first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad laid stress on education since then, the time has totally changed but education is still not the top priority in our country. According to my understanding if we want to bring about a change in the education which is imparted in the schools of our country, we must bring the change in the Teacher education system of our country. The teacher of today has to perform various roles apart from classroom teaching like facilitating and motivating the student that enables them to rejuvenate themselves, discover their hidden talents, to realize the physical as well as the intellectual potentialities. The achievement of this aim puts the teacher education and teaching institutes in focus. The present teaching education structure is supported by the National, State, District level institutions that cooperates among themselves and work under Ministry of HRD. The aim of this paper is to demarcate various obstacles in teacher education that hampers the growth and to suggest the possible solutions to such problems.
