The theme of the article is the identity crisis of the female protagonist in the novel “Des fourmis dans la bouche” written by Khadidjatou Hane. This novel speaks about an African woman Khadîdja Cissé, who has migrated from Africa to settle down in France. The African emigrants leave their home country for France in search of a better life, thinking that France is a paradise. But once they come to France, they realize that their dreams turn into illusion, and thus their identity is in danger. Hence, this article analyses how the female character of the novel “Des fourmis dans la bouche” lose her identity in France as an immigrant, as a women and as a Black.
