The present study aimed to investigate the difficulties that a translator has to face while rendering the SLT (i.e. Source Language Text) in to TLT (i.e. Target Language Text). And mostly these difficulties arise when a translator takes a literary text to translate. Translation is an art as well as craft. Translated text is the proof of translator’s proficiency in both the languages involved i.e. the SL and the T.L. It is the evidence of linguistic competency attained by the translator. A translator, especially a translator of literary text needs to know much about the source language as well as the target language for the decoding the sound knowledge of the SL is needed while for encoding the sound knowledge of the TL is required. Apart from that the knowledge of culture in which both the languages are embedded is one of the preconditions while translating a literary text.
