student engagement in English refers to the amount of academic time they spent in school while learning English- one period. The student engagement is the deciding factor of teaching learning of English. The English language has different functions to learn such as, mastering pronunciation, mastering Listening; speaking; reading and writing. There are varieties of English language all over the world say, American, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and South African, apart from Received Pronunciation (RP). Those who are taught in RP should also be taught in varieties of English depending upon the students needs related to their choice of their career Crystal(2004) differentiates between the older New Englishperson and the newer New Englishperson.’ Decades ago in India, the mother tongue medium school student had a different text book and from the English medium student before 2014.Then, English language was tested only in quarterly, half yearly and annual examinations. But with the media and technology and with the latest pedagogies, slip tests, oral test, recitation, etc are tested and evaluation was done continuously. This became a continuous process. Christina Mary Georgy in her article titled ‘ English for Specific Purposes(ESP) In Higher Education in Kerala: A study on scope and challenges in implementation “ lists out the challenges of not having designed separate curriculum to teach English for specific purpose. In Telangana state, English is taught from first standard onwards without any separate designed curriculum to teach English for specific purpose. The classroom teaching is done using textbook- this article discusses the progress of students of primary school – to understand how much the student can focus on specific purposes of English language and student engagement benefit the child in learning English for specific purposes. This article is based on the results of the field work done in a Primary school. Key-words: English for specific purpose, Received Pronunciation, technology, higher education etc
