The present paper deals with the Feminist perspective in Shashi Deshpandes’s The Binding Vine. Deshpande occupies a unique position among the Third generation of contemporary Indian novelists in English. Deshpande’s novels have generally concentrated on the plights and problems of educated women mostly with an urban base. Many of her characters are persons who are frustrated either sexual or professionally. Her novels generally centre around family relationship particularly the relationship between husband and wife and the latter’s dilemmas and conflicts.
