Women liberalisation and empowerment of any nation begins with gender equality, education and self-respect movement. This paper highlights all the key factors related to women rights, issues, education etc. which were advocated by the Modern Rationalist, Thanthai Periyar. He is popularly known as Social Reformer in South India. The article spotlights three stages of women liberalization and empowerment such as the pre-age of Thanthai Periyar, the age of Thanthai Periyar and the post age of Thanthai Periyar. It foregrounds that the long list of hindrances faced by women of South India, Tamil Nadu. The paper instigates the readers to infer that a nation which does not facilitate women with liberalization, literacy, gender equality, human rights etc. will not empower economically.
