The teaching of English to technical students is one of the emerging trends of English Language Teaching. The eminent scholars in ELT for technical students opine that the teachers face number of problems in designing the curriculum. The reason is that the students show much interest of their exposure to Science and Technology rather than Languages. In addition to general classroom a language teachers supposed to coordinate with the needs analysis, curriculum design, materials writing, and suggestions. The present paper titled: “Designing Competencies: Teaching English Language in Professional Colleges” focuses a competency frame work for the teachers of English in Engineering Colleges. This work, we hope, will serve as a basis for training the teachers in which they teach the subject with ease and stuff. .
