In a globalised and intricately connected world, English is inevitable. It is a fact that English is spoken and understood all over the globe. It is the National Language of Great Britain, The United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the Irish Free states. It has been and is serving as a window on the world. Today the Indian ego is basking in the glory of its endless list of international successes. The empowerment provided by the mastery over the English language is as much a reminder of its colonial past as it is a representation of the opportunities available in the present and promised in the years to come. It is a fact beyond dispute that English language is one global language that has bound the inhabitants of the entire globe in terms of expression of thoughts and communication, irrespective of their respective histories, Geographies, Economics or Statistics. In the present day world English has become language of opportunity, power, prestige, and prosperity. It is the most opportune time to strengthen English language skill. English teaching should therefore align to i cater the needs of the students. The goal of teachers centres on the gradually more powerful conversion of ‘Knowledge about’ language into a resource for effective reading, listening, viewing, writing, and speaking. The English teachers should become as Facilitators, needs to outfit him/her according to the latest trends and methodologies in teaching facing lot of challenges in executing their job efficiently. Audio-visual aids, language laboratories CDS, DVDS, have come to aid the teachers. Besides teachers can influence a learner’s motivation. It is the true role of teachers in making the transition from student to employee. There is no competitive Exam without testing the proficiency of English language. Test of English is an integral part of most competitive Exams and recruitment process world over. The teachers in general and English Teachers in particular should take the responsibility of application of the knowledge gained by students. Communication (English) skills play a vital role in transforming the individual. In a list of skills and attributes identified by companies that belong to the National Association of Career Educators and Employers (NACE), Communication skill holds the first position. To survive in this competitive world gaining knowledge alone will not help achieve success but good communication skill to express the gained knowledge is important to excel in life..
