Edgar Allan Poe’s gothic tales have undoubtedly given impetus to standardized and more appealing gothic and detective stories as knit by writers as Agatha Christie. The two major categories clutching these tales are firstly, tales in which the protagonist becomes a victim to his misfortunes as a result of his own shortcomings and secondly, tales in which the characters fall a prey to unfortunate circumstances due to the immediate influence of their surroundings. The two major tales of Edgar Allan Poe ,which form the core of the paper ,however fall into the latter category, wherein the victims succumb to ill fate in the vicinity of their environment. Such tales have indeed laid the foundation stone for brain triggering mysterious gothic tales. Keywords: Phantasmogoric Fear, Terrible Confusion, Two Worlds, Parallel Vein Of Fear, Lettered Medium.
