The comparative literature, which simply speaking, studies the interrelationship between two or more literatures, relates at a higher level to dialectic between the ultimate metaphysical sameness on the one hand and the linguistic-cultural multiplicities on the other. This paper deals with in comparative literature, the problem of method, the process of translation, particularly literary translation and the identification of areas of comparison. It also suggests course and curriculum and decides the quantum of comparative literature as part of teaching English language and literature. Finally, it argues a search, as Noam Chomsky says, “a search for understanding of human mind, and of the relationship of mind and body”. It emphasizes a quest for the universals of literature, for the universal bond that unifies creative minds beyond the frontiers of time and space.
