Girish Karnad a well known dramatist in Indian English Literature wrote Nagamandala, a folk play. Depicting culture and society, Karnad presents eternal human values with ever changing social more or morals. The story of the play happens in a village, a typical south Indian village. While reading the play we get the fragmentary picture of village, may be an imaginary one but the dramatist delineates it in such a way that it seems to be real one. In the present paper the researcher studies dialogues, setting and instructions systematically and collects the references together to get a unified picture of a typical South Indian village.
