The novel as a form of creative expression emerged both in English and in regional languages in India. It began to emerge in India as a result of the European invasion. Indian writing in English has emerged as a byproduct of British literature; those highly educated Indians in English have started to write in English by the influence of western novels. The socio-political conditions which impacted the development of the form called novel in Europe had its parallel in India under the British rule. The main object of this research paper would like to focus on the root and brief literary history of Indian Fiction in English and the genre-novel in Indian English. Here, it is essential to mention the brief history of Indian Writing in English and the contributors of it. Along with the list of contributors in Indian Writing in English, the rise new form of literature –novel in India is also necessary to focus. For research convenience, the researcher will divide this paper into four sections: the first section about an Introduction to Indian Writing in English, second section about the origin of the novel in India, the third section will focus on the survey of Indian Novels in English, and the fourth section about the conclusion.
