The pandemic hit in 2020 resulted in (D.C, 3.10.21) drastic drop in reading and writing skills in all the languages. The learning loss of more than one year would necessarily have weakened the foundational knowledge of the students especially in the subjects of mathematics, sciences and languages at the school (Hans India 8.8.21). The school where I did my field work, the fourth class students have similar problems. Meeting friends was banned; They had spent their precious time in just sitting idle. Without writing exams they were all promoted to next class. Listening to the digital lesson was not possible for many students. During my field work when I tested their previous knowledge, it resulted in zero retention and zero recall. But the student’s attendance wise it was between 75-80%, this motivated me to interact with them and found that they have fire in their belly to learn English language .So, I continued my field work from 4.2.22 to 24.4.22.
