The English medium school has been flourishing as one of the most booming industry in urban informal sector of contemporary society. The present paper aimed at identifying the mechanism and pattern of contribution in the field of education and employment being made by English medium school operating under the banner of informal sector. A cross sectional study in Ranchi city, involving both quantitative and qualitative approach was adopted to cover the multi dimensional facet of the problem selected. The study reveals that the growth of English medium school within informal sector has been found to be a very effective in disseminating modern education to those children whose parents voluntarily makes investment with the hope of a bright future of their wards. Similarly, the spread of such institutions are also serving as an alternative means of employment especially for those educated youth who fails to obtain a job in government sector. The management of the institution dominates in applying their convenient way of running these organizations but any efforts to legalise these institution with financial assistance can encourage more number of people to enter into this sector that would definitely serve a long way in enhancing the rate of education as well as the level of education in one hand and creating more job opportunities for unemployed youth looking for employment on the other hand.
