In today’s global perspective anything happening in any little corner of the earth will have wide scale implications. A cyclone in North America, an oil spill in Arabian Sea or an earth quake in Haiti cannot be taken as isolated events but as wakeup calls for us, you, me, in fact each and every one, indicating that concerted efforts are required to transport the world to safer shores. Any discussion on environment will have the economist, the scientist, the politician, and the industrialist and ,of course, the educationist. This Paper looks at the role of education in the environmental issues. The three layers of the text involved are
1. The changes within the individual educational institution related to environment protection.
2. The awareness that we educators need to inculcate the students and thereby the future generation as far as environment is concerned.
3. The active role that educators can play in the present day to help our environment.
