Washback is known as the impact of testing on teaching and learning. It can be either positive or negative. However, the testing in the colleges decides the way the teachers teach. This study evaluates the influence of University Semester Examination washback effect on teachers’ selection of teaching methodology to teach English language as Part II subject at undergraduate level in the districts of Sivagangai and Ramnad. The survey was taken with 100 college English teachers. The research tools used in this survey are document analysis, printed questionnaire and interviews with focus group. The data reveals that teachers’ teaching methodology is directly influenced by the University semester examinations. Keywords: Washback effect, teaching methodology
