Private higher education especially management education in the Sultanate of Oman has started almost twenty years and still stands at a crossroad. The private higher education structure of educating and training Omani youth is not providing appropriate result as expected in the increasingly diverse and technological global economy. The current management education curriculum does not prepare students to face the challenges in competitive environment. Managing uncertainty and complexity are not taught in these private higher education institutions. Private higher education institutions merely teach the concepts with case studies and their focus is not much on the changes in global technological development. The objective of this paper is to study the competencies and characteristics of management education in the changing digital age and to identify the issues and challenges that arise in private higher education institutions of Oman. As per the literature review three important components were highlighted namely government, faculties and students.
