The acquisition of the English language or English language learning - is the debate going on in India since a long time. The learners of first class who come to school with spoken background of mother tongue spends time, say from 1-10 classes to master the written mother tongue, also to read the text in mother tongue. Stern, (1983) said, ‘’The first language is maintained as the reference system in the acquisition of the second language” English language has 26 letters and 44 sounds divided into pure vowels, diphthongs. The rules of English language do not change when it is learnt as second language / English as lingua Franca/ English as Global language / English as an international language -, Even if one learns English as a skill subject or as a subject, the effort put up by the learner should be as same as his interest, The ways, methods, should/ must change – The strategies should change My hypotheses is like this, Acquisition of English is better than learning of English. Few strategies would definitely help the students to learn in innovative way this way teachers can reactivate the Language Acquisition Device among the learners. Now , what I feel is those who are coming to school have been coming to learn English for completion of SSC (course) /Intermediate / Degree later on and to enter into a profession of their choice. Thus acquisition of English Language is possible for any child if the onus is put on the students themselves. In T.S from this year, English medium has been introduced for all the classes to give global exposure. The phonetic system say the pronunciation of Telugu Consonants, (hallulu) Vowels (achulu) ubhayasharalu (y,w) and the 44 sounds of English language match. While teaching Telugu alphabet of English can also be taught. This is an innovative way of teaching English to them.
