This article makes a fair attempt to present the maiden Africa as perceived by Chinua Achebe. Thereby he has shown how their virgin culture has undergone distortion with the advent of the colonizers. Not only culture but also their religion was under threat because of their missionary ambitions. Their normal life was endangered as the colonizers imposed their own ways of life on the colonized. Achebe has been extremely critical of these colonizers and the colonial writers and projected Africa from a different perception that was not the same as those of the West’s.
