The caste is the most salient feature of the Hindu social structure. The caste associations are formed on the basis of occupation or by virtue of their caste lineage. All the caste associations are well organized an economically sound and who have benefited from the liberal education policy of the government have become more vocal. The castes having formed themselves into associations certainly seem to have made a significant contribution in unifying the higher to scattered caste members into one association, committed to its goals and objectives and have striven hard to realize its priorities. There are cases when philanthropists come forward to render financial assistance for religious and charitable causes. These castes have realized that they could improve their status by improving their economic conditions rather than observing rituals followed by the upper castes.
