SMEs form the backbone of the Indian manufacturing sector and have become engine of economic growth in India. It is estimated that that SME account for almost 90% of industrial units in India and 45% of value addition in the manufacturing sector. Their remarkable contribution in terms of generating large scale employment and tackling regional disparities in growth has been recognized in the concerned circles. Small and Medium-scale Enterprises of different categories in India have received the support of the government, Banks, Financial institutional and many other, including small industrial associations and federations, for a long time.
