The objective of this paper is to examine liquidity position and management in selected oil industries i.e., public sector (HPCL) and private sector (RIL). For this purpose the liquidity management practices and efficiency aspects of working capital have been analyzed and the different from private sector to public sector particularly in Oil Industry which in turn determines the liquidity position of the companies. Financial techniques and statistical tools namely, ratio analysis and average, standard deviation and student‘s-―t‖ test have been applied to analysis and interpret the data. Finally, the paper establishes there is a strong relationship between the liquidity management of units.
