Child labour refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful. The practice is considered exploitative by many international organisations. Some of the common causes of child labour include poverty unemployment of the parents, lack of parental education, large number of members in the family and lack of good schools. This paper discusses the reason for child labour, impacts and government policies that are available to protect the children.
