Electronics Media play a vital role in Modern Society – Used as a medium for communication of information authorized as well as unauthorized – Personal information are collected without the consent of people and the information are used for commercial purpose and sometimes with criminal intention – There the issue of right to privacy arise. The invention of Computer and Internet Technology changed the life style of the people to a larger extent – Technology is used effectively and also misused effectively – Misuse cannot be allowed liberally- Intrusion into right to privacy cannot be accepted legally. Privacy is a natural right beyond its legal status – It is protected by ethical code as well as legal measures – But prevention is a difficult task – Right to privacy has a recognition at International level through many International legal instruments like Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and European Convention on Human Rights. In India, even though we have no specific law, privacy is protected under Constitution itself – Information Technology Act also protect privacy to some extent – Even though law and legal mechanisms discharge their functions in protection of right to privacy, still right to privacy is violated by using the technology – We require more stringent laws and more strong mechanisms to protect right to privacy.International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and European Convention on Human Rights.
