The present paper is an attempt to developThe present paper is an attempt to developa measure of mobility in export and import and torelate it with real annual percent growth rate in(a) GDP and (b) production of steel in the world. The database of this paper is the Secondary sourcei.e. published reports of World Steel Associationon World Steel in Figures for different years. Thedependence of annual growth rate in percent on theexport mobility and import mobility during theperiod 2005 -2016 has been investigated usingMultiple Regression Analysis employing SPSSsoftware- version 20. The number of independentvariables is two viz., mobility in export and, mobility in import and the dependent variable isthe annual growth rate in (a) Gross DomesticProduct (GDP) and (b) production of steel. Thechoice of these two dependent variables rests fortheir importance as measure of economic growth,The results based on our regression model suitedfor policy purpose reveal that there is a positiverelationship between annual growth rate andpositive relationship mobility in export and inverserelationship with mobility in import. It suggests forexport promotion and import substitution /restriction to achieve higher growth rate in Steelsector from the point of rise in annual growth ratein (a) GDP and (b) production in steel sector
