This paper provides an overview of the theoretical positions of the contending perspectives as well as a survey of the empirical evidence on labour welfare measure in Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). It clearly emerges from our discussion that the theoretical basis for the advocacy of blanket labour welfare measure is rather weak. Our empirical analyses that examine the satisfaction level of labourers in labour welfare measure in TNSTC. The paper also examines the result of above study. Furthermore, it clearly emerges that many of these empirical studies are methodologically and statistically seriously flowed.
