Forensic In the Indian scenario, patriarchal mindset remains rampant. Women are dominated by men in every sphere of life. In this precarious condition, safeguarding women is necessary and the government has taken many initiatives to empower women socio-economically. Status of women in India is not up to the desired level and it has become necessary for successive incumbent governments to devise novel ways to uplift half of the population gradually and later their condition for better. Government of Karnataka has implemented many Schemes for the development and upliftment of women but these schemes do not reach to appropriate group of people due to lack of awareness. In this paper a modest attempt has been made to analyse the level of awareness of government schemes among rural women in Kolar district. The study attempts to understand the problems faced by rural women in Kolar District. It identifies the schemes which are implemented for the rural and poor women. The primary objective is to check the awareness level of rural women relating to the Government Schemes. Keywords: Government schemes, Empowerment, upliftment etc.
