The budding of inestimable varieties promising literary texts in India is owing to her linguistic assortment. Multilingual India with its repository of literatures has the potential to offer a forum for an inspiring practicum in literary translation and comparative studies. It furnishes abundant scope for comparative scholars to study Indian Literature based on history, ideology and theology. While comparing the works of Indian writers it would be easy to identify the lifestyle of Indians, customs and traditions followed in Indian families, the constructive features that enhance the progress of individuals and the depressing factors that demolish the future of many. Women writers from India try to bring to lime light the life style of Indian women in Indian society, the position of women in the family, the man-woman relationship, the responsibility of elders in the family and the problems faced by girls, married women and widows. The position of women in the tradition bound society where men are levied with fewer responsibilities in the family is the main focus for the writers who write in English and regional languages in India. Shashi Deshpande‟s Matter of Time and Sivasankari‟s Poi articulate how Sumi and Dhurga are tossed from anticipation to despair in their married life when Gopal, Sumi‟s husband and Giridhar, Dhurga‟s husband leave the family and children without communicating proper reason for their departure. This comparative study aims to trace the hurdles that destroy the happiness of married women and the solutions that are suggested may be yet another productive step in demolishing social evils. Key Words: linguistic assortment, ideology and theology, vernacular Indian literary, literary traditions, sense of Antiquity, optimistic mindset etc.
