The biography of Tony Morrison‟s life style and her writing style is dealt here. The real name of Toni Morrison is CHLOE ANTHONY WOFFORD. She received Noble Prize for literature in 1993. Her first book, “The Bluest Eye” is a novel of a black girl who is obsessed by white standards of beauty and longs to have blue eyes. The central themes of this novel are black American experience in their society. The characters struggle to find their self identity and their self culture. Her uses of Fantasy, Poetic style and rich interweaving of the mythic gave her stories great strength and texture. In this novel, Morrison challenges the western standards of beauty and demonstrates that the concept of beauty is physically constructed. Morrison also explores that if whiteness is used as a standard of beauty, then the value of blackness is diminished. She focuses on the damage that the black women characters face through the construction of femininity in a racialized society.
