Her first book, “The Bluest Eye” is a novel of a black girl who is obsessed by white standards of beauty and longs to have blue eyes. Her uses of Fantasy, Poetic style and rich interweaving of the mythic gave her stories great strength and texture. In this novel, Morrison challenges the western standards of beauty and demonstrates that the concept of beauty is physically constructed.
