The novel ‘Homecoming’ written by Cynthia Voigtis the portrayal of poor children’s doleful situations. It expresses the pitiable conditions of four children whom were left all alone during summer in an aborted city near Connecticut. They are abandoned by their mother who promised to take them to their relative home. She is a single mother and mentally ill and so acted repulsively. Diecy who is the first daughter of the single mother took up the responsibility of leading them to the relative home. The novel records the thorny path of the children’s lives. But they did not get desperate. They are determined especially the first child who led all the three. Keywords: Homecoming, poor children’s, doleful situations, pitiable conditions etc.
