However teaching English in a school where the medium of instruction is Tamil which is not as facile as it seems .Teaching poem gives them the image of what is been taught to them. The present paper is aimed to show that teaching English poems to Tamil medium or rural students is through poem we can motivate the students to learn English language . The deficiencies in teaching, rural students by using the systematic techniques and methods can be adopted to teach English poems.Keywords: Introduction, expressing the aim, Presentation, Recitation, Meaning and Explanation of the poem, Conclusion.
