This paper attempts to analyse the elements of rite of passage in Native American boys in ‘House made of dawn’, a novel by N. Scott Momaday. N. Scott Momaday is a kiowa tribe’s writer. He has been a stalwart figure in NativeAmerican literary scenario. His portrayal of native American lives struck a chord and has introduced to the larger world to the native lifestyle and way of thinking. House made of dawn has been a phenomenal writing and has got massive acclaim. The characters and settings have been closer to Momaday’s life.
