This paper drawshis paper drawsattention on the role ofmusic in English drama“The Tempest”. Thepaper covers the role ofmusic in literature.Work in literature and music therefore extends avery wide range of approaches, from explorationswhose principal aim is historical analysis to closetextual and theoretical analysis of the relationshipsbetween the literary and the musical with thesudden emergence of cultural studies somewhatcomplicating the entire process. Going beyond ahistoricist conception of music, and considering itin terms of cultural phenomena we can rightfullystudy the implications of a musical conception ofart in a large cultural context, looking atalternative non-western aesthetic traditions canalso open up some more daring approaches andurgent theoretical issues within both disciplines -whether comparative receptions of musical andliterary figures, musical settings as `readings' oftexts, or closer definitions of narrative techniquesand generic alliances that might into account themusical aesthetics of both past and present. Themultiplicity of subjects of word and music studiesoffers amazing richness; and that it is a growingand vibrant area of research is beyond doubtthough can be somewhat puzzling in its apparentheterogeneity. Keywords: literature and music, historicalAnalysis, textual and theoretical analysis, historicist conception, cultural phenomenanarrative techniques, musical aesthetics, heterogeneity etc.
