The aim of this research paper is to finds the concept of Multiculturalism, Class and Identity with reference to “Kiran Desai’s Novels”, “The Hullaballoo in the Guava orchard and The Inheritance of Loss”. One of the major themes of the novel is dislocation in families, Sai is forced to live with her grandfather after the death of the parents. Even the retired judge after his years of struggle in England shows his anger and sorrow at his young wife who for no fault of hers becomes the victim of his abuse. Things take a change when the story moves from Gujarat to the frontiers of Europe in the early part of 1940. The experience of the Judge living in this part of the globe is reflected. One of the significant features of post colonial novels in India is the depiction of the reversal of roles of Indian. Jemubhai Popatlal lacks the characteristic features as bravery and virility prevalent in Indian men. He beats the unarmed cook which finds his effeminate role in changed circumstances. It is significant that Biju in America is cook, not a watchman as cook’s role is generally assigned to girls. Biologically they belong to masculine gender where as they perform the feminine role in the kitchen and dining. Keywords: Multiculturalism, Contemporary writers, Indian Literature, Magic Realism, Migration, Multiculturalism, cultural conflict etc.
