The paper discusses the listening comprehension problems of native speakers of Tamil, and their misconceptions about listening. It also highlights some of the existing repair strategies used by students while they face difficulties. The subjects of the study comprise of 48 second year students from the Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu particularly Chennai District. The study comprises two instruments: listening comprehension test and questionnaire. Findings of test and questionnaire are discussed. Finally the paper gives recommendation to overcome problems.
