Mulk Raj Anand is one of the popular three stalwarts of Indian English Literature. He is a distinguished narrative artist of twentieth century, especially in the first half of the century. This pursuit of dive is to analyze and make an exploratory study of the novel, The Big Heart. The Big Heart prefaced with Lord Byron’s speech in 1812, is published as a seventh novel in the long chain of novels in the year 1945. The natural expressions are adapted into his novel in the form of Hindustani and Punjabi idioms. The expressions are not refined or trimmed, but are put in natural mode. He does avoid rhetoric and roundabout way of expressions, but he goes straight without bends. In the present dealt work, Anand uses copiously the blends and code mixing. Code mixing is the merging of two or more languages e.g. Hindi and English or any other Indian language with English. The phrase code mixing is also studied as code switching. So many other factors are also concentrated in the novel.
