Sin has always been unpardonable and its effect was never pardoned in the Puritan American Society of the times in which Hawthorne lived. He selected these traits and moved them across so as to take the whole concept of Sin to people who accepted it their doom to be biased by Sin. Nevertheless, the Puritan ideology and its intent were rooted in the Hawthorne‟s life and this made it necessary for him to emphasise on verdicts which made ordinary people special. On the other hand, the Scriptures put it that man has already prepared himself for doom and the perception of sin in such a society would be compassionate which puts a human being in a position he could never remark upon. But, the Catholic concept still bypasses this whole idea by the mention of pardon and thus Hawthorne goes about his writings with many a case why „Sin‟ should not be pardoned and thus when the gravity of sin is seen, the question we ask is whether or not sin is pardonable. Keywords: Sin, Puritan Society, Destiny, Human Conflict, Allegory.
