Literary Theory, a set of related concepts and practices has divided theory people and opponents against Theory. Contemporary theory is a collection of theoretical approaches among which Structuralism claims that the system of language provides determinate meaning of the text. This assumption was decentred by Jacques Derrida in his Deconstruction, which is a strategy of analysis that has been applied to Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Law and Architecture This paper analyses the evolution of Deconstruction in its historical perspective. Derrida’s books Speech and Phenomena, Of Grammatology and Writing and Difference which introduced deconstructive approach to reading texts. His work which focuses on language contends that the traditional or metaphysical way of reading makes a number of false assumptions about the nature of text.
