English continues to be the language of business, commerce, administration, the law and higher education. This is in spite of the official efforts to promote Indian languages in all areas. Most educated Indians communicate with one another in English rather than in Indian languages, even if they have one common language in which they can communicate with each other. This is because English is a language that provides upward economic and social mobility. Today it is the language of wider communication with both spoken and written skills being treated as equally important. Keywords: Globalization, Technology, Education, Communication
