The purpose of this paper is to look into listening comprehension skills of engineering college students in Chennai. It reveals listening comprehension problems and discusses listening comprehension strategies. The subjects of this study comprise of 48 second year students from Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu, India particularly Chennai District, who were effective and less effective listeners, identified according to their scores on a proficiency test. The participants asked to listen to a recorded academic lecture and the responses are discussed. Finally the paper suggests the effective listening comprehension strategies with the view to overcome problems. Key Words: Listening skill, engineering students, problems, strategies etc.
