The article “Ecofeminist Consciousness in Indian Cinema: A Study of Cheluvi of Girish Karnad” explores Girish Karnad’s film Cheluvi in the light of the theory of eco-feminism. The study traces the origin of the tale in folklore and compares it with A. K. Ramanujan’s version of it in “A Flowering Tree.” The implications of the cinematic presentation of the story is explored in the background of the connection between women and trees in Indian culture.
