This paper “Disrupting the Linear: Narrative Deception, Female Resistance, Ecology and Language in Mahasweta Devi’s Hunt (Shikar)”examines Mahasweta Devi’s portrayal of tribal life, feminist resistance, and subaltern consciousness in ‘The Hunt’ by exploring the specific narrative structure and technique employed this story. This study is divided into different segments. The first section traces the writer’s literary career along with major thematic concerns; the second segmentanalyses the story’s deceptive linear narrative, irony, hybridity, and resistant politics. Through Mary Oraon’s character, the story emerges as a counter-historical subaltern narrative that dismantles patriarchal and dominant socio-cultural structures. Ultimately, ‘The Hunt’ stands as a powerful literary intervention amplifying marginalized voices, female agency, and cultural resistance in contemporary Indian literature. Keywords: Narrative, marginalized, hybridity, tribal life, counter-history, feminist resistance etc.
