This paper intends tohis paper intends toinvestigate the difficultiesfaced in literary translation.Hindi texts have been chosenfor analysis and it is translatedto English. It is found that translation plays aneffective role in developing one’s competence andto have a better comprehension of the meaning of aliterary text regarding the diversity of culture, ofdifferent languages. The chosen texts should beculturally significant, and should be likely toarouse personal response. Texts that fulfill thesecriteria will surely facilitate effective translation ofthe source language.Key-word: translation, literature, artistic,effective, significant.
