Amulya Malladi born in India and graduated her Engineering Degree in Osmania University, Hyderabad. She has also completed her Masters in Journalism in USA. Amulya Malladi has written five novels. And “Serving Crazy with Curry” is her third novel that depicts the immigrant experience. The novelist has described the inner conflicts of the immigrants and their struggle to get an identity in the family and society. In this novel, the protagonist Devi decides to end her life, but she fails in her attempt. After her suicide attempt Devi starts living in silence without giving reasons for her behaviours. To rescue from the traumatic experience Devi indulge in cooking innovative recipes contradicting the traditional Indian culinary. The paper discusses the portrayal of cooking and its significance in Devi’s quest for identity.
