Dignity is essential for every human being and to maintain it especially in an academic field is a kind of achievement. Neil Bissoondath, a contemporary Canadian author, nephew of renowned author V.S Naipaul, is also working as a Professor at Department of English Literature, University of Laval, Quebec. Being an academician, Bissoondath has keenly observed the world of academia, and with his highly acclaimed depiction style and technique, he has given a picture of the values generally respected, but not practiced by academicians like Alistair Mackenzie which leads him to repent on his decisions, taken with prejudices, responsible for the ruin of reputation of an innocent colleague-Thrush who engulfed in isolation and loneliness and finally commits suicide as he is unable to enjoy the beauty of the life.
