According to Sri Lankan education system, English is taught from grade one to grade thirteen as a compulsory subject. However the competency level of English is declining in the areas that confronted the conflict especially in Jaffna district. If these problems to be resolved first the challenges that the children encounter should be identified. And this research attempts to recognize the causes that forbid a child from getting a peaceful language learning environment. The predicament that the post conflict Jaffna children encounter are found with the plight that the children of the eighteenth century England faced during the industrial revolution through William Blake’s poems. Keywords: Post-war, Blake, Jaffna etc.
