This paper aims at Children’s literature; the name itself is festive, happy and gives joyous mood. Children’s Literature also consists of poems, fables, fairy tales and plays. Though many people has been reciting the poem ‘Twinkle, twinkle little star’ it doesn’t loose its charm. Kids have been enjoying the poem ‘Old Mc Donald had a farm E-I-E-I-O’ and at the same time the poem makes them learn the cries of the animals and birds. The words in children’s literature are very simple and sometimes some new words are according to the context very thoughtful and useful. ‘Old King Cole was a merry old soul, and a merry old soul was he’ poem makes our hearts recite merrily. If the correct rhythm is tuned to the poems, the children enjoy and no boundaries, sky are the limit. Many great poets wrote many poems for the children. ‘Twenty froggies went to school’ is enjoyable and encourages the children by saying ‘first we study and then we play’. Aesope’s fables are wonderful and every story carries a moral. All the animals in the fables are very dutiful and burdened themselves to carry the moral. Rudyard’s Jungle book is quite interesting. The hospitality of the pack of the wolves and the orther animals towards the jungle boy Mogli was awesome and what about the naughty girl Heidi who taught the Alphabet to the goatherd. These books help the children to enrich the vocabulary, make them communicate with the language fluently, effectively and develop integrated skills and its main purpose is to develop in the children the human values cherished by the society and to enable them to appreciate good things in life.
