Krishnaswami Iyer Narayanaswami (10 October, 1906 – 13 May, 2001) commonly known as R. K. Narayanan, was an Indian writer, who could create his own fictional town Malgudi in South India. He can be termed as one of the pioneers of Indian writing in English. Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Narayan was a pioneer in establishing the Indian English Fiction. He created Malgudi the typical south Indian village. Narayan’s novels represent sound Indian middle class life in its varied form. My paper deals with the character of Raju, in his fiction ‘The Guide’ who transforms from a tourist guide to a Holy saint.
