On the Pulse of Morning is a poem by African-American writer and poet Maya Angelou which she read at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton in January 20, 1993. Since the reading of her poem, Maya Angelou has been figured a national celebrity. This paper aims at the themes of the poem that are about change, inclusion, responsibility and the role of the President and the citizens in establishing economic security. The poem has portrayed a sense of diversity and in the course of history, elements of society have changed. Equality is an important concern in the world today. People think that people who are not alike come from other planets, but we should understand that we are all members of this planet. No matter how strange we appear to be to others.
